Warehouse Manager / Operations Manager

Job Purpose

To ensure the efficient receipt, inspection, storage, and delivery of goods while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and customer service. The role combines warehouse duties with vehicle driving responsibilities to support daily business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Goods Inwards

  • Receive deliveries from suppliers and verify goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report any issues promptly.
  • Accurately record goods received using the company's inventory or warehouse management system.
  • Label and store products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe goods inwards area.
  • Assist with stock counts and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and filed correctly.

Driving Duties

  • Safely load, transport, and deliver goods to customers, suppliers, or company sites.
  • Plan delivery routes to maximise efficiency.
  • Obtain proof of delivery and ensure all paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report defects immediately.
  • Keep company vehicles clean, roadworthy, and compliant with legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all road traffic laws and company driving policies.

General Warehouse Duties

  • Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders when required.
  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely (subject to training and authorisation).
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Support colleagues and perform other warehouse duties as required.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Full, clean driving licence (appropriate licence category for company vehicles).
  • Previous warehouse or goods inwards experience.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills for stock and delivery records.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving goods safely.

Desirable

  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems.
  • Previous multi-drop delivery experience.
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
