Travis Perkins plc are now hiring for an exceptional Google Workspace Senior Engineer to join our Client Services team within GTS and serve as our lead technical specialist across the Google enterprise ecosystem.
You will act as the principal subject matter expert defining the strategy for Google Workspace, driving complex single sign-on (SSO) integrations, shaping automated identity lifecycles and embedding Zero Trust security frameworks across the Group.

Working Pattern & Location
- Hybrid Working: Attendance at our Head Office based in Duston, Northampton is required on a regular basis. You will have full flexibility to work remotely from home or another Travis Perkins plc location for the rest of the week.
- Working Hours: Full-time, 8 hours per day completed flexibly between 07:00 and 17:30, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required depending on project deployments.
The Opportunity
As Google Workspace Senior Engineer, reporting directly to the Google Lead, you will serve as the lead technical specialist controlling Travis Perkins' Google environment.

Acting as the primary bridge between Google technology, architecture and security teams, you will champion modern security practices.
What You'll Be Doing
- Environment & Console Control: Managing the end-to-end Google Workspace console, including RBAC profiles, Organisation Units, domain configurations and resource/meeting room calendars.
- Advanced SSO & Authentication: Designing and implementing complex SAML and OIDC integrations, managing third-party SaaS app integrations and mitigating risks around application scopes.
- Zero Trust & Platform Security: Leading the adoption of modern authentication standards (FIDO2/Passkeys, Context-Aware Access) and auditing API usage to maintain Cyber Essentials compliance and a robust Zero Trust posture.
- Technical Escalation & Support: Acting as the escalation point for technical support tickets, guiding fellow Google admins and advising mobile teams on Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Chrome browser/OS updates.
- Reporting & Optimisation: Extracting and analysing console metrics to optimise license usage, track platform adoption and inform executive management decisions.
- Architecture & Business Projects: Representing the Google platform in technical governance forums and supporting major enterprise initiatives, including acquisitions and divestments.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline business processes through Google Workspace features, Google Apps Script automation and modern collaboration tools.

Essential
- Strong, hands-on experience managing and engineering Google Workspace within an enterprise environment.
- Professional qualification (Degree in Computer/Service Science or significant equivalent industry experience).
- Deep technical knowledge of Google authentication methods, identity management, SAML/OIDC and Google's endpoint/MDM solutions.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and traditional IT infrastructure deployments.
- Proven capability in solution design, implementation and delivering technical presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Confident working independently with minimal guidance to resolve technical issues and drive project deliverables.
We'd Particularly Like to See
- Professional Collaboration Engineer certification.
- Chrome Enterprise and Deployment credentials or Google Workspace Deployment Services credentials.
- ITIL Certification.
- Experience working with AppScript and Gemini writing code for automation.
