About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Governance and Compliance professional to join a major strategic energy planning programme.
This newly created position will take responsibility for ensuring that governance, compliance, approvals, assurance and programme documentation are managed effectively across the programme.
You will work within the Planning & Operations function and act as a key point of contact for internal governance matters. The role will involve working with senior stakeholders and multiple programme teams to ensure decisions, approvals and supporting documentation are properly recorded, controlled and maintained.
This is not an IT or Procurement role. It is best suited to professionals from Governance, Compliance, Risk, Assurance, Internal Controls or Programme Governance backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage internal governance processes and approval workflows
- Coordinate reviews and sign-off across multiple stakeholder groups
- Track governance actions, milestones and dependencies
- Maintain accurate governance and programme records
- Ensure decision-making is properly documented and traceable
- Maintain audit-ready evidence and documentation
- Manage document updates following governance reviews
- Support programme assurance and control activities
- Review risks, issues and delivery plans
- Monitor the effectiveness of governance controls
- Ensure programme documentation remains accurate and up to date
- Provide clear updates to programme leadership and stakeholders
- Follow up on outstanding actions and approvals
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable taking ownership of governance activities from start to finish.

You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Governance
- Compliance
- Risk
- Assurance
- Internal Controls
- Programme Governance
- Corporate Governance
- PMO Governance
- Secretariat / Executive Office functions
You should be confident working independently while coordinating several stakeholders and competing priorities.
Strong communication skills are particularly important. You should be able to explain governance requirements clearly and practically, without relying heavily on technical or corporate terminology.
Industry Experience
Energy Or Utilities Experience Is Desirable But Not Essential.
We are open to candidates from a wide range of sectors where strong governance and compliance practices are important, including:

- Regulated industries
- Large corporate environments
- Smaller businesses and start-ups
Transferable governance experience is more important than having direct energy-sector experience.

Seniority
This is an experienced-level position with significant ownership.
You will become a key internal governance specialist for the programme and will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement.
Location & Travel
The role is based around Warwick / the Midlands with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
Approximately one day per week in the office is expected, although there is flexibility around working arrangements.
Some UK-wide travel will be required, potentially including travel to locations such as Scotland, Manchester and Exeter. Occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £50,188 – £54,432
There may be flexibility into the upper £50,000s for an exceptional candidate, with a preference to remain below £60,000.
The role also includes a standard employee benefits package and an annual performance-related bonus.
Recruitment Process

An informal introductory conversation may also take place before the formal interview.
