Are you passionate about governance and making a positive impact in the education sector? Our client, a dynamic Higher Education institution dedicated to transforming lives through education, is seeking a Governance Manager and Assistant Secretary to Council to play a key role in supporting effective institutional governance and decision-making at the highest level of the organisation.

Working closely with the University Secretary, you will support the University's governing body and committees, ensuring governance processes operate effectively, regulatory requirements are met, and senior leaders have the information and support required to make informed decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a governance, board support, company secretarial or compliance professional who enjoys working with senior stakeholders and making a meaningful contribution within a purpose-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the University Secretary in providing high-level governance advice to the Council and senior leaders.
  • Coordinate the annual cycle of Council and committee meetings, ensuring agendas, papers and supporting documentation are prepared to a high standard.
  • Draft reports, briefings, minutes and communications for a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance governance systems and platforms, including Teams and SharePoint.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of Council members.
  • Organise and coordinate both virtual and in-person meetings, events and governance activities.

  • Support the development and implementation of governance policies, procedures and frameworks.
  • Build effective relationships with governors, senior leaders and key stakeholders across the institution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
