Governance & Membership Administrator

Salary: £32,221
Location: Cambridge, St Edmund’s College
Contract type: Permanent, Full Time (36.5 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and adaptable Governance & Membership Administrator to join our Governance, Risk & Compliance team. This is a varied and fast-paced role supporting the College’s governance forums, senior membership processes and key compliance activities. You will work closely with the Governance & Membership Officer and colleagues across the College to ensure the smooth running of governance operations, accurate record-keeping and excellent administrative support.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple priorities, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative, service-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for Governing Body, Council and College committees, including agendas, papers, minutes and action tracking.
  • Maintain accurate governance records, including committee memberships, terms of reference, annual business cycles and election/appointment records.
  • Support the administration of Fellow, Senior Member and College Officer appointments, renewals and departures.
  • Act as a first point of contact for routine governance and membership queries.
  • Maintain membership information across College systems and support production of the College Calendar.
  • Assist with Fellowship communications, Admission Ceremonies, Fellowship Dinners and related events.
  • Support data protection and information governance processes, including SARs, FOI requests and data incident logging.
  • Maintain governance, risk and compliance registers, policy review schedules and other trackers.
  • Provide general administrative support including diary management, meeting coordination, correspondence and documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, SOP development and process enhancements across Governance, Risk & Compliance.

The Successful Candidate

You will be someone who:

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in a busy administrative role with competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational and record-management skills.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Experience of minute-taking or producing accurate meeting records.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in governance, committee or membership administration.
  • Experience of GDPR, FOI or compliance processes.
  • Experience in higher education, a collegiate environment, charity or public sector.
  • Experience coordinating formal events or using CRM/workflow systems.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
