Governance Officer
As the Governance Officer you will be providing an effective governance service to support core business and ensure regulatory compliance. Focusing on best business practices and to improve quality and efficiency.
Location: Flexible hybrid working arrangements between home and Prima offices (Columbus Quay and Twickenham Drive)
Salary: £37,057 Per Annum
Governance Officer Main Duties
- Act as the liaison between the leadership team and Board members, develop briefings as and when required to convey key messages to both employees and members.
- Offer advice and support to colleagues when preparing reports and briefings to Board members
- Accountable for supporting and servicing Boards and Committee meetings; including, secretariat service, minute taking and meeting coordination and forward planning, to enable effective management of the Group.
- Provide input to the quarterly in-depth Governance Report and all associated ad hoc or regular reports required for all Boards and Committees.
- Provide a day-to-day governance service including designing and developing processes, advising Boards and employees on requirements and reviewing and challenging current and future processes.
- Accountable for compiling the evidence necessary to satisfy an In-Depth Assessment, or other governance related regulatory compliance requirement. Working closely with the Executive team to draw together the evidence required by the Regulator.
- Manage the Boards and Committee inductions and appraisal processes, develop, implement and manage training plans for members in-line with this and feed into the Board succession planning process.
- Manage the effectiveness reviews for Board and committees, collating responses for feedback and review.
- Manage all administrative tasks for members, including, recruitment, induction, subsistence claims, subscriptions, conference and events.
- Oversee the self-assessment reviews of the NHF Code of Governance, the Governance Standard, Financial Viability Standard and Codes of Practice.
- Working within a confidential environment, where a relationship of mutual trust is essential, to ensure that commercially sensitive and/or confidential information is handled appropriately and remains secure.

Skills & Competencies For The Role
- Experience of working with a Board of management.
- Experience of working within a confidential environment
- Experience of working within a Governance environment and a good working knowledge of the governance systems in an organisation would be desirable.
- Having worked in a housing association, not for profit or public sector organisation, would be advantageous in this role.
- A clear understanding of the role of ICT in service delivery.
- Knowledge and understanding of the process relating to governance and regulatory compliance would be desirable.
- Occasional working outside usual office hours
