Government Affairs Director
The Government Affairs Director, is responsible for identifying, assessing and helping shape emerging sustainability, chemicals and product-related policy developments that could materially impact Cytiva's business, products, operations and growth. The role facilitates cross-functional evaluation of regulatory risks and opportunities, coordinates company responses to significant policy changes, and supports the development of advocacy strategies that protect and advance Cytiva's long-term business interests.
This position reports to the Global Head of Government Affairs and Policy and is part of the Legal function and is expected to be located at one of our sites in Uppsala, Sweden, or Amersham, United Kingdom, with the possibility of a remote role based in Brussels.

What You Will Do
- Lead the identification and assessment of emerging sustainability, chemicals and product-related policy developments, translating complex regulatory changes into clear business implications and strategic recommendations.
- Serve as the company's subject matter expert on priority policy issues, providing timely analysis and advice to senior leaders on risks, opportunities and potential business impacts.
- Establish and coordinate cross-functional teams to evaluate and respond to significant regulatory developments, ensuring alignment across Government Affairs, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Sustainability, Supply Chain and Commercial functions.
- Develop and support advocacy strategies on priority issues, working closely with trade associations, industry coalitions and government affairs colleagues to help shape policy outcomes and protect Cytiva's interests.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including industry associations, regulators, policymakers and partner organisations, to strengthen the company's visibility and influence on critical policy issues.
- Provide horizon scanning and early warning of emerging legislative, regulatory and geopolitical developments that could impact Cytiva's products, operations, supply chain or long-term growth strategy.
Who You Are
- Long-standing experience in life sciences government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, sustainability policy, chemicals policy, environmental policy, or a related field, with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or governance processes involving Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Commercial or other business functions as well as experience of working with government affairs colleagues in different regions and jurisdictions in a multinational matrix organisation.
- Experience representing an organization through life sciences trade associations, industry coalitions, government consultations, or regulatory engagement activities.
- Experience working across multiple geographic regions, including Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, on policy, regulatory or government affairs issues.
- Experience supporting business responses to major regulatory or legislative changes, including cross-functional governance and implementation planning.
