Company: Dow Jones

Location: London, UK

Reports to: Vice President, Data Strategy

Focus Areas:

  • UK & EU Regulation (AML, Sanctions, AI, DORA, Copyright, Privacy, Energy issues specifically, and media policy more generally)

About The Role

Dow Jones is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Government Affairs Manager based in London. You will be responsible for identifying, monitoring, and influencing legislative and regulatory developments in the EU and UK that impact our business intelligence and data services as well as monitoring general media policy and regulations.

You will serve as the primary advocate for Dow Jones on critical files including AI, Copyright, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), International Sanctions, and the evolving digital and privacy regulatory landscape (DORA, and GDPR). You will also maintain a watching brief on Energy policy as it relates to our commodities and energy information business, including Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR). You will also work closely with government affairs colleagues in the industry in monitoring and advocating for media and press-freedom issues within the UK and EU.

You Will

  • Advocacy & Engagement: Represent Dow Jones before UK Government departments (e.g., HM Treasury), the European Commission, the European Parliament and others. Build and maintain a network of stakeholders among regulators, industry associations, and think tanks. Work closely with News Corp’s global Government Affairs team.
  • Regulatory Analysis: Lead the analysis of key legislative files including the EU AI Act, UK Digital Information and Smart Data Bill, DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act), and evolving AML/Sanctions regimes.
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide actionable insights to senior leadership on how upcoming regulations will impact the business, product development and regulatory requirements Dow Jones clients need to meet.
  • Policy Positioning: Draft high-quality position papers, consultation responses, and briefing materials for executive leadership.
  • Trade Associations: Manage Dow Jones’s participation in relevant industry groups and trade associations to amplify our voice on shared policy goals.
  • Energy Sector Monitoring: Monitor UK/EU energy policy developments and carbon market regulations to support our energy information and pricing divisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
