Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people? Do you have professional experience, community connections, leadership expertise, or safeguarding knowledge that could help shape the strategic direction of a school?
We are seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join the Local Governing Bodies of Ark Atwood Academy, Ark Byron Academy and Ark Isaac Newton Academy, with a particular interest in recruiting Safeguarding Link Governors.

Governors play a vital role in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. By volunteering your time and expertise, you will provide strategic support and challenge to school leaders, helping to drive educational excellence and improve outcomes for pupils.
As a governor, you will:
- Support and challenge school leaders to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
- Help ensure the school remains true to its vision, values and ethos
- Monitor the effectiveness of key areas, including safeguarding, attendance and pupil wellbeing
- Contribute to meaningful decisions that shape the future of the school and its community
- Develop your own leadership, governance and strategic skills

We are especially interested in Safeguarding Link Governors
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and strong governance is essential in ensuring children remain safe and supported.
As a Safeguarding Link Governor, you will work closely with school leaders to:
- Monitor safeguarding practice and culture
- Support compliance with statutory safeguarding responsibilities
- Provide assurance to the Local Governing Body that safeguarding arrangements are effective
- Champion pupil welfare, wellbeing and safety
Experience in safeguarding, education, social care, health, policing, public service, HR, legal services or related fields would be particularly valuable, although training and support will be provided.

Commitment
Governors are typically appointed for a three-year term and are expected to:
- Attend four Local Governing Body meetings each year
- Participate in training and development opportunities
- Undertake occasional school visits and stakeholder engagement activities
- Support governor panels and school events as required
