Remote GP Assessor (Fostering & Adoption Medicals)
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
Job Type: Flexible / Session-Based / Part-Time
Salary: Competitive sessional rate.
About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, professional, and experienced GMC-registered General Practitioner to join our team as a Remote GP Assessor, conducting medical assessments for fostering and adoption applicants throughout the UK.
This is a fully remote role, with all assessments conducted via secure video consultation. You will review medical information, undertake independent clinical assessments, and prepare high-quality medical reports that support fostering and adoption services in making informed decisions.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play an important role in helping prospective and current foster carers and adopters progress through their assessment journey while contributing to positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fostering and adoption medical assessments via secure video consultation.
- Review medical histories, questionnaires, and supporting clinical documentation.
- Carry out independent clinical assessments and provide professional clinical opinions.
- Produce clear, accurate, objective, and evidence-based reports.
- Ensure all reports are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR and GMC requirements.
- Communicate effectively with applicants, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity throughout the assessment process.
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of clinical governance and safeguarding awareness.

Essential Requirements
- Current GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Experience conducting independent clinical assessments.
- Previous experience of remote consultations and assessments via video consultation.
- Strong report-writing skills with the ability to present clinical information clearly and objectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
- Friendly, approachable, and empathetic manner.
Desirable Requirements

- Level 3 Safeguarding Training (preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience completing fostering and/or adoption medical assessments.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child welfare considerations.
- Experience in assessment-based healthcare roles.
Training & Support
Previous experience completing fostering and adoption medicals is highly desirable; however, it is not essential. Comprehensive training will be provided to successful candidates following interview, ensuring you have the knowledge and confidence required to carry out assessments and report writing to the required standard.
