Peripatetic TPD Roles - East Midlands
10 TPD sessions are being advertised for Peripatetic TPD roles across the East Midlands. We are looking to recruit 5 post-holders, each at 2 sessions per week (one day equivalent).
Peripatetic TPDs may be deployed into GP training programmes across the region for defined periods to provide TPD support when a programme has lost capacity through prolonged absence (e.g. due to illness, recruitment delays), provide support during periods of increased educational demand (e.g. ARCP panels) or to deliver a specific project (e.g. improved neurodiversity support offer). Over the course of a year, a Peripatetic TPD may work across several different programmes in the East Midlands.
When not deployed to a specific programme, peripatetic TPDs will contribute to centralised regional educational offers, e.g. the regional resident doctor induction programme, centralised teaching on essential topics, and other region-wide initiatives.
This is a deliberately flexible role designed to provide regional resilience. It is also an excellent development opportunity for educators who want to build TPD experience, work with a range of programme teams, and gain exposure to different ways of running GP training.
The East Midlands GP School delivers training across nine programmes (Nottingham, Sherwood Forest, Leicester/Leicestershire/Rutland, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Boston, Derby, Kettering, Northampton). Successful applicants should be willing to work across the region as deployments require.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Typical Duties:
- Programme support and management
- Teaching delivery
- Trainee support
- Collaboration and communication with the Head of School, APD for Rotations & Rotas, programme TPDs, programme managers, and other regional colleagues throughout the deployment.
- Evaluation and development including contributing feedback to the Heads of School and the APD for Rotations & Rotas on each deployment, supporting continuous improvement of the Peripatetic TPD model.
- Participate in regional faculty development opportunities and protected professional development time.
Please note role responsibilities are not limited to the areas listed above - as with all TPD roles, you may be asked to work flexibly to support wider GP training within the East Midlands.
This is a new type of role within the East Midlands GP School. Post-holders will play an active part in shaping how the role develops, with their experience informing future deployments and regional priorities.
