We are growing the team within our Position, Navigation and Timing Centre of Excellence and looking for a Senior Staff GPU Engineer ready to solve complex problems alongside people who know this technology inside out.

The expert-level GPU Engineer is a senior technical authority responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of complex software solutions across the full product lifecycle. This role provides technical leadership for software and multi-disciplinary engineering teams, drives innovation in products and services, and influences strategic technology direction.

Leveraging deep expertise in C++, CUDA, Linux systems, kernel and user-space development, the role solves complex technical challenges, mentors engineers, and collaborates across functions to deliver high-quality, high-performance solutions. The successful candidate combines exceptional technical depth, leadership, innovation, and a results-focused approach to create lasting business and customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Play a senior technical role in assigned software projects as a member of the Software team.
  • Contribute to the software development life-cycle from its design to implementation and validation.
  • Leading focused software and/or multi-disciplined Engineering teams to deliver projects and programs.
  • Play a role in developing and defining new product concepts and ideas for both Product and Services.
  • Connect with other functional areas within the organization to drive technical solutions.

Qualifications

Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar discipline such as Electronic Engineering

Extensive relevant experience in a similar role (~8 years) with the ability to add value with limited development

Experience

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of CUDA and C++
  • Hands-on experience in working within a structured engineering environment that includes:
    • Requirements Analysis/Definition
    • Design/Implementation
    • Defect Tracking
    • Testing
  • Can effectively apply Spirent’s ISO accredited Product Realisation Process (PRP)
  • Demonstrable mentoring and training experience
  • Very good understanding of Linux based operating systems architecture and how to optimize for performance
  • Linux Kernel and User Space development experience
  • Good knowledge in Virtualized environment and Intel® architecture
  • Knowledge or experience in VS Code or Visual Studio®, product and WSL
  • Good knowledge of UML software architecture modelling (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools and software version control (GitHub Preferred)
  • Knowledge of CI best practice (Preferred)
