Location: Leeds City Location, Monday to Friday office 8/9 hours a day worked

Role Purpose

Supports the successful delivery of projects by assisting Project Managers and Senior Project Managers with project coordination, reporting, planning, stakeholder engagement, and administration activities. The role provides structured development across all aspects of project delivery, building the experience, knowledge, and behaviours required to progress into a Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project plans, schedules, resource trackers, action logs, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and support project reporting activities.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, attend project meetings, and produce accurate meeting minutes and action trackers.
  • Assist in maintaining risk, issue, assumption, dependency, and change registers.
  • Support stakeholder communication and coordination between project teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Help track project deliverables and ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with project governance requirements.
  • Assist with financial administration, including budget tracking, purchase orders, timesheet monitoring, and cost reporting.
  • Support the preparation of project status reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate information requests and ensure actions are followed through to completion.
  • Assist with resource planning and workload tracking activities.
  • Support project procurement and supplier management activities where required.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of project delivery improvements and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, project controls, quality requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Participate in project reviews, audits, and governance activities to develop an understanding of project assurance processes.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of allocated work packages and tasks under the guidance of senior project personnel.
  • Actively pursue professional development opportunities and project management qualifications.
  • Escalate significant commercial, operational, contractual, and delivery risks to senior leadership with clear recommendations and mitigation strategies.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and programmes, balancing competing priorities and business requirements.

Technical Requirements

  • Good understanding of basic project management principles and project lifecycles.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with project planning and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Planner, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prepare reports, action logs, project trackers, and meeting documentation.
  • Understanding of project governance, risk management, and project controls principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • Industrial placement, year in industry, internship, or work experience within a project environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrable interest in project delivery, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or related sectors.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Working towards, or interested in pursuing, professional qualifications such as APM PFQ, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Foundation, or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable where project site visits form part of the role.
