Graduate Actuarial Analyst – Solvency II Analysis Team
An opportunity has arisen for a recent university graduate who is interested in pursuing an actuarial career to join the Solvency II Analysis Team within the wider Insurance Finance Reporting, Control & Operations function.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in financial and regulatory reporting while developing a deep understanding of the insurance industry, Solvency II reporting, and balance sheet management. The role offers exposure to both shareholder and with-profits business and provides a strong foundation for a long-term actuarial career.
Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you will join the Actuarial Graduate Support Scheme, which provides structured support towards achieving professional actuarial qualifications and developing the skills required for a successful actuarial career.
Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will gain experience analysing financial results, contributing to regulatory reporting, supporting key business projects, and developing solutions that improve processes and business outcomes.
What You'll Do
As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Support the analysis and reporting of quarterly Solvency II valuation results, helping to explain movements in results and communicate key insights to stakeholders.
- Develop an understanding of both shareholder and with-profits Solvency II balance sheets through reporting activities and ongoing solvency monitoring.
- Learn how commercial, financial and regulatory developments can impact the company's solvency position and financial results.
- Contribute to the analysis and reporting of With-Profits asset pool rebalancing exercises, ensuring outputs are accurate, well-controlled and clearly understood.
- Work with colleagues across Finance, Risk and Actuarial teams to support the delivery of financial reporting and regulatory submissions.
- Assist with project work and wider business initiatives that support the team's objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
- Develop analytical, technical and communication skills through practical experience and on-the-job learning.

What You'll Learn
This role provides the opportunity to:
- Gain experience of Solvency II financial reporting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Build an understanding of insurance balance sheets and capital management.
- Develop financial analysis and problem-solving skills within a regulated environment.
- Work with experienced actuarial and finance professionals across a range of business areas.
- Build confidence communicating complex information to a variety of stakeholders.
- Gain exposure to wider financial reporting activities, including opportunities to support IFRS reporting where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an individual who is:
- A recent graduate, ideally from a numerate degree discipline such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Engineering or a similar subject.
- Interested in pursuing an actuarial career and working towards professional qualifications.
- Numerate, analytical and detail-oriented.
- Curious and keen to learn, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Able to take ownership of assigned work and deliver to agreed deadlines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues across different teams.
- Able to communicate clearly and explain analytical findings in a straightforward manner.
- Motivated to develop both technical and commercial understanding.
Knowledge of the insurance industry or actuarial concepts would be beneficial but is not essential, as training and support will be provided.
