Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 per annum

The Opportunity

Hill McGlynn are currently working with an established construction consultancy who are looking to appoint a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team, based full-time from their Faversham office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career Surveyor looking to develop their career within a professional consultancy environment.

Working alongside experienced Surveyors, you will gain hands-on exposure to live projects while developing your technical, commercial and client-facing skills. The business is looking for an ambitious individual who wants to learn, take on increasing responsibility and build a long-term career within the industry.

A relevant construction or surveying degree is essential for this position.

The Role

As a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support senior members of the team across a range of projects and surveying activities.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting experienced Surveyors with the delivery of live projects.
  • Assisting with project documentation, reports and commercial information.
  • Supporting the preparation of cost plans, estimates and project budgets where required.
  • Assisting with tendering, procurement and contractor enquiries.
  • Attending site visits, project meetings and client meetings.
  • Assisting with valuations, variations and project cost reporting.
  • Monitoring project progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Supporting senior team members with the successful delivery of projects.
  • Developing your knowledge of construction contracts, project delivery and commercial processes.
  • Taking on increasing levels of responsibility as your experience develops.

About You

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is keen to establish and develop their career within construction and property consultancy.

You Will Ideally Have

  • A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related construction/property discipline - essential.
  • Previous industry experience through a placement year, internship or graduate position would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within surveying and construction consultancy.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisation and time-management abilities.
  • Confidence working with clients, contractors and other construction professionals.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a professional team.
