Description

Summary

The role of a cost manager is to manage the cost and legal processes of a construction project. As a Cost Manager, your primary responsibility is to help ensure projects are delivered within the client's approved budget.

You will be working within our infrastructure and major projects team on projects across the infrastructure sector and supporting a diverse range of clients.

This includes preparing cost plans, forecasts, cash flow projections, contract documentation, and financial reports, while providing clients with clear and accurate advice throughout the project lifecycle. Effective communication and strong attention to detail are key to the role, enabling Cost Managers to keep clients informed of project finances and proactively manage associated risks.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Surveyor, you will spend 2-2.5 years working towards Chartered Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) while gaining valuable practical experience required across a range of projects to give you the expert knowledge of construction costs and contracts.

You will join the G&T Accelerate Programme, combining real responsibility, expert mentoring, and accredited training to help you gain a professional qualification and accelerate your career, ensuring you can relate the theoretical aspects of your studies to actual work experience. Over the course of the programme, you will gain valuable experience across a variety of projects while developing the technical, commercial, and leadership skills required to become a successful Surveyor.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
