Job Description

Start here. Grow here

Aviation is one of the key focus sectors at AECOM, a business sector which sits within our number one rated global transportation engineering consultancy. Whilst we are already the number one aviation engineering consultancy by revenue globally, we see significant future growth potential as the sector recovers from the downturn induced by the Covid 19 outbreak. Our clients are now re-investing in their assets, to ensure they are in the right condition, but also to ensure their capacity needs of the future.

AECOM is actively seeking a Graduate Aviation Engineer to support a wide range of aviation-related pavement and civil infrastructure projects for airport clients. In this role, you will assist with the design, planning, and construction support of airport engineering projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft stands, boarding bridges, vehicle service roads, airfield lighting and signage, navigational aids, surface water drainage systems, utilities, and airfield asset inspection and rehabilitation. You’ll work on projects of varying scale and complexity, gaining valuable hands-on experience across all stages of project delivery.

As a Graduate Aviation Civil Engineer, candidates will be involved in:

  • Aviation Masterplanning
  • Feasibility and Assessment studies
  • Concept and Detailed Design development
  • Construction Support
  • Airport asset inspections
  • Airport pavement design
  • Airport civil infrastructure design (utilities, surface water etc)
  • Geometrical airport planning
  • Apron Stand / Air Bridge planning
  • Aeronautical Ground Lighting and Signage design
  • Aircraft stand modelling and tracking
  • Modelling of the airport environment in 3D

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
