About the Role

At FM Conway, our Bids team plays a key role in securing the contracts and projects that shape and maintain the UK’s highway infrastructure. As a Graduate Bid Writer, you’ll join our team in Sevenoaks and develop the skills to create compelling tender submissions that showcase our expertise, respond to our clients’ needs and clearly communicate the value FM Conway can deliver.

This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in bid writing within a fast-paced and varied environment where no two submissions are the same. You’ll work alongside experienced bid professionals and collaborate with technical, operational, commercial, and senior teams across the business.

You’ll learn how to manage the bid process from start to finish, turn complex and technical information into clear and persuasive content, and help us produce high-quality submissions that make us stand out from the competition.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Graduate Bid Writer, you’ll be involved in all stages of the tender process, including:

  • Carrying out market research to identify and understand key business opportunities
  • Reviewing tender documents and identifying technical requirements, key deliverables, and deadlines
  • Working alongside the Senior Bid Manager to coordinate and continually improve the end-to-end bid process
  • Preparing and managing tender programmes and delivery plans
  • Drafting, editing, and reviewing quality and technical responses for tender submissions
  • Turning technical information into clear, engaging, and persuasive written content
  • Working with teams across the business to gather evidence, project information, and examples of our expertise
  • Assisting senior management with tender presentations, negotiations, and market engagement activities
  • Collaborating with our commercial, legal, and estimating teams throughout the tender process
  • Helping ensure every submission is accurate, compliant, professional, and delivered on time

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
