You will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.
We offer purpose-driven and challenging work on diverse projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society globally.
About The Resilience Engineering Team
Within the Environment-Resilience-Renewables (E-R-R) group, around 30 engineers and technicians work on water’s edge projects. The team has a strong track record and delivers many ongoing projects in the coastal and fluvial sector, as well as drainage projects. We also work closely with other engineering teams in the company, such as Maritime, Highways and Infrastructure. This gives our graduate engineers broader experience.
Recent project highlights include the award-winning Southsea Coastal Scheme, Northey Island Coastal Adaptation, and Holme Sluice Fish Pass (largest in the UK). Projects vary from solving flooding and erosion problems to habitat creation and amenity enhancement schemes for local authorities, contractors and private clients.
The team has the knowledge and experience to deliver all stages of projects, from project management, data gathering and interpretation, specification and supervision of site surveys, optioneering and appraisals, outline and detailed design, maintenance advice, procurement and construction support.
The Role
This role is for a Graduate Civil Engineer working on projects and proposals, mainly in coastal and fluvial engineering within the national and international market. We have an extensive portfolio of work. You will support Project Managers and technical specialists with your own knowledge and practical input.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
