About the job:
We are recruiting for a Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer to be based in Kent’s Woking office.

Our Civil and Structural engineering team in Woking UK operates globally in both the Onshore and Offshore energy sectors and are working towards energy supply, sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. As a graduate in our engineering team you will be contributing to a variety of technically challenging and exciting projects, designing new onshore and potentially offshore energy projects, developing carbon capture and energy storage solutions, developing sustainable fuel facilities which may involve site visits to our client’s global installations.
The successful candidate(s) will join our Graduate Development Programme within our engineering team in Woking with duties including, but not limited to, those outlined below.

Recruitment Timeline
Shortlisting and pre-screening of applications will commence in early November. Candidates selected to progress to the next stage will be invited to interview, with interviews scheduled to take place from late November to early December 2026.

You will be joining our Woking Engineering Office team, working in conjunction with Kent’s global offices and resources to actively encourage and foster innovative solutions and new approaches to solve our client’s problems.
Initially working under supervision, with increasing responsibility as your career develops, your reporting line is to the respective Civil/Structural Group Manager.
You will join Kent’s Graduate Development Programme to provide structure and guide your career in the early stages. You will also join Kent’s ICE Approved Graduate Training Scheme, to work toward achieving Chartered Engineer status in a target 4-5 year time frame with support from your assigned Supervising Civil Engineer.
Your work could involve the following:

Functioning as part of a team of engineers initially assisting other engineers, providing engineering and design technical inputs and outputs (e.g. developing engineering calculations, worksheets, project technical documents etc.)

Engineering and design of foundations and concrete structures
-
Engineering and design of steel structures and pre-assembled modular structures
-
Engineering and design of offshore structures
-
Engineering and design of industrial and process plant buildings
-
Engineering and design of underground drainage, underground services, utilities, plant roads and paving systems
-
Engineering and design of Civil works, earthworks, highways and site preparation designs
-
Development of engineering calculations and analyses using engineering software including linear and non-linear analyses and FEA techniques, along with other calculation and technical software tools
-
Development of engineering deliverables using 2D and 3D CADD software tools
-
Preparing design calculations and reports
-
Undertaking specific tasks / areas of work as defined by the lead / principal / senior engineer

Preparation of engineering documents including scopes of work, specifications, requisitions, materials take-off’s
-
Executing allocated tasks within the requirements of the project execution plan, Job Notes and TDR.

Working to the requirements of the Civil / Structural Job Notes and Design Manual.

Executing work in compliance with client specifications, Kent’s ISO accredited QMS systems (including KMS procedures), and project specific procedures, guides and standards.

Perform related duties as and when instructed by lead / principal / senior engineer or group manager.

Providing input to preparation and review of deliverables prepared by other engineers.

Providing input and support to decision making by other engineers.

Site visits and surveys, as required.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

A Master’s Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.

Awareness applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes.

Knowledge of Safety and Quality Procedures and best practice.

Previous relevant work placements and industrial experience would be an advantage.
