The Opportunity
We are looking for graduate Civil & Structural Engineers who are interested in playing a key role in the design and delivery of critical infrastructure on a diverse range of projects.
Joining Arup is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to gain practical experience across a wide range of projects and sectors, providing extensive and varied learning opportunities for professional growth. You will be embedded within our project delivery teams working closely with a range of staff, from recent graduates to experienced engineers and technical specialists, who will provide you with the support and encouragement required to develop your skills and your career.
Our Civil Engineering team works at the heart of projects that create lasting positive change across a variety of sectors including renewable energy, power transmission, water, site development, maritime and defence. We deliver a broad range of small / medium scale and major infrastructure projects. Typical examples include; pumped storage hydro schemes, HVDC transmission infrastructure, onshore & offshore wind developments, coastal resilience schemes, ports and harbour upgrades, major wastewater utility renewals and defence infrastructure.

In This Role You Will
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, environmental specialists, planners and project managers to develop integrated engineering solutions.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in the design and delivery of a variety of civil engineering works, including for example civil & marine structures, foundations, HVDC power transmission and site development infrastructure, earthworks, drainage, roads and utilities.
- Use industry-leading digital tools and develop skills in a range of engineering analysis and design software.
- Contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on the UK's net-zero ambitions.
- Undertake technical assessments, engineering design calculations, site inspections and preparation of reports, drawings and project deliverables.
- Develop professional and technical skills through structured training, mentoring and hands-on project experience while supporting the delivery of sustainable infrastructure.
- Be supported towards becoming professionally qualified and achieving Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE. You will be assigned a Delegated Engineer (DE) and Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE) and be provided with the necessary experience and training to deepen your skills and progress your professional qualifications.

Is this role right for you?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- Masters level (MEng or MSc) in a relevant academic discipline, such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Ground / Geotechnical Engineering.
- Enthusiasm for a career in the renewable energy, power transmission, water, maritime, defence and/or site development sectors, underpinned by knowledge and interest in one or more of these areas.
- An analytical thought process and drive for technical excellence.
- Creativity and a desire to think beyond the norm.
- Aptitude to work on your own initiative, be proactive and take responsibility.
- A good communicator and proactive team player who thrives working individually and in a team environment.
- Interest in and application of digital skills is an advantage.
- A willingness to develop expertise through on the job and formal learning, internal research opportunities, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Interested in developing your career in Engineering, with a desire to gain Professional Qualification as a Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Structural Engineer, or equivalent
- Knowledge of civil engineering, geotechnical, drainage, highway, earthworks, structural, and hydraulic engineering principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical reporting, and engineering calculation skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), Microsoft Excel, and digital engineering tools.
- Awareness of BIM and ISO 19650 standards; familiarity with Revit is desirable.

- Full working rights in the country of application
- No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
- Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
