This full-time Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer role is based on-site in Edinburgh. The role involves supporting the design and analysis of structures subjected to blast, ballistic, and other extreme loading conditions under the guidance of senior engineers. Day-to-day tasks include performing structural calculations, contributing to structural analysis models, preparing design drawings and details using CAD tools, and assisting with technical reports and design documentation. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on security-focused infrastructure projects, help review testing data, and participate in site visits and inspections as needed. The position offers training and mentoring to develop expertise in structural dynamics, threat mitigation, and specialist testing environments.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering, with an understanding of structural behaviour under various loading conditions.
- Ability to perform accurate engineering Calculations and contribute to Structural Analysis for both conventional and dynamic load cases.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for preparing drawings, details, and models in support of design and analysis work.
- Bachelor’s/Masters degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Good knowledge of relevant design codes and standards, with an interest in blast and ballistic engineering and security design.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and willingness to learn in a specialist technical environment.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and readiness to be based on-site in Edinburgh.
