Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated Junior Cloud Engineer to join our Defence and Security team. In this role, you will support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of secure Oracle Cloud infrastructure environments. Working closely with our experienced cloud and DevOps professionals, you will contribute to designing resilient and scalable cloud solutions that support mission-critical national security systems. This role offers extensive training in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related technologies. This is a Bristol-based role with a September 2026 start date which will involve hybrid working and occasional traveling to our clients' sites.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of Oracle Cloud resources, including compute, storage, and networking components.
- Write and maintain infrastructure-as-code scripts using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or shell scripting.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and assist in the resolution of cloud infrastructure incidents.
- Support the implementation of cloud security best practices and compliance with government regulations and standards.
- Help implement backup strategies and disaster recovery solutions to ensure service continuity.
- Work closely with DevOps, security, and software development teams to support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of cloud environments, configurations, and procedures.
- Stay current with Oracle Cloud services, tools, and best practices through continuous learning and on-the-job experience.

About The Candidate
- A Bachelor's degree (2.1 or higher) is required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure), networking, and system administration.
- Exposure to scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python) and/or infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Must be eligible for UK Security Check clearance.
