Graduate Commercial Executive (Founding Team)

Second Gears | Hybrid (Leicester HQ) | Full-time, Permanent

£25,000 base + uncapped commission (OTE £30,000–£33,000)

About Second Gears

Second Gears is changing the way crashed, damaged and written-off vehicles are bought and sold in the UK.

We connect private sellers directly with verified trade buyers, helping sellers achieve a better return while giving dealers, rebuilders and salvage companies access to vehicles before they reach the traditional auction market.

We’re a founder-led startup growing quickly and entering our next stage of growth as we expand the platform, introduce new revenue streams and grow our buyer and seller network across the UK.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an ambitious graduate to become one of the first commercial hires at Second Gears.

You’ll work directly with the founder and get exposure to sales, growth, customer experience, operations, product and strategy.

This isn’t a traditional graduate scheme where you spend your first year watching from the sidelines. You’ll be given real responsibility from the beginning and have a direct impact on how the company grows.

You won’t inherit a huge team or a finished playbook. You’ll help build it.

As Second Gears grows, we want this role to grow with it.

What You’ll Do

  • Speak directly with sellers and help move vehicles from listing through to completed sale
  • Find and onboard new trade buyers including dealers, rebuilders and salvage companies
  • Help grow subscription and transaction revenue
  • Build relationships with existing buyers and help them get more value from the platform
  • Manage customer enquiries and solve problems quickly
  • Use our CRM to manage conversations, opportunities and follow-ups
  • Work directly with the founder on new ideas, experiments and growth opportunities
  • Feed what you’re hearing from customers back into product, pricing and strategy
  • Get involved in different areas of the business as Second Gears grows

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Confident speaking to new people
  • A quick learner who asks good questions
  • Comfortable picking up the phone
  • Proactive and able to work without constantly being told what to do

This Role Is For You If

Where This Could Lead

We’re hiring someone we believe can grow with Second Gears.

As the company scales, there will be opportunities to take ownership across sales, partnerships, growth, customer success and other commercial areas.

We’re not looking for someone to simply fill a graduate position. We’re looking for someone who could become an important part of the team we’re building.
