Senior is an international manufacturing group with 20 operations in 10 countries. Senior designs and manufactures high-technology components and systems for the principal original equipment manufacturers in the worldwide aerospace, & defence, land vehicle and power & energy markets. The Group is split into two divisions, Aerospace and Flexonics, servicing five key sectors.

About Senior Innovation Centre:
Senior Innovation Centre is a market-leading Product Development, Business Development & Manufacturing Centre. We design highly engineered Thermal Management & Fluid Conveyance products for the Land Vehicle, Aerospace & Industrial markets.
Our strategy is simple but powerful: We innovate locally, then deliver globally. Our primary goal is to develop new products and win new business for the benefit our global manufacturing sites.
We manage customer relationships both technically & commercially, developing solutions in response to customer demands. We oversee projects from concept, through to production launch across our sister sites globally.

Job Description
The Graduate Design Engineer is a key member of the Engineering team, gaining full exposure to new product design across all product ranges. This role requires enthusiasm, motivation, and a strong drive to succeed, offering an excellent opportunity to develop and grow within the Senior Innovation Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate innovative & feasible design concepts and cost-effective solutions to meet project and customer requirements, including preparation of drawing packs complying with specifications.
- Ensure all design requirements (customer and internal) are optimized to provide a robust product that can be manufactured within the agreed targets (cost & performance).
- Prepare, check, and approve to ensure drawings are correct and to required standards complying with Senior’s internal quality processes and procedures.
- Participate in internal team meetings and design reviews with cross-functional departments to meet project needs.
- Liaise with technical specialists as required (e.g., for FEA, CFD analysis and specialist 1D calculations).
- Represent Senior in customer meetings where necessary.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Prototype, Purchasing and Production engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacture.
- Ensure design files (3D & 2D) and information are kept up to date and stored in accordance with departmental procedures.

Qualifications
- A Mechanical Engineering degree (or similar field).
- A strong technical ability including new technologies and innovations in automotive sector.
- Experience in using Catia (3D, surface modelling, detailed drawings).
- Knowledge of GD&T would be an advantage.
- Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety. Designs solutions must be based upon safe working practices and support environmental initiatives.
- Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to internal stakeholders, customers, & suppliers in a clear and concise manner.
- Current knowledge on latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards.
- Strong technical & analytical knowledge with “thinking outside of the box” mind set.
- Ensure that all work activities and records comply with Company Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills on the job.
- Valid driver’s license.
