Astute’s Power team is exclusively partnering with SABSCO, a world-leading specialist in steam blowing, air blowing and chemical cleaning services for the global power and process industries, to recruit a Graduate Design Engineer.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious engineering graduate to join a highly respected international business and work on projects across the UK and around the world. The role offers a salary of up to £28,000, a car allowance, international travel and excellent career development.

The Graduate Design Engineer role

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you’ll be involved in every stage of engineering projects, from initial design through to on-site delivery. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing technical proposals for clients.
  • Producing engineering designs, including flow calculations, piping layouts and stress analysis.
  • Preparing method statements and risk assessments.
  • Planning and specifying equipment requirements for projects.
  • Coordinating the shipping and transportation of SABSCO’s specialist equipment.
  • Supervising SABSCO projects on site, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
  • Maintaining accurate site records and project documentation.
  • Undertaking field measurements and chemical analysis to assess the effectiveness of cleaning processes.

Professional Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in piping design and stress analysis, ideally including CAESAR II software (desirable).
  • Experience within the power generation or petrochemical sectors would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Personal skills

The Successful Graduate Design Engineer Will Be

  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Happy to travel throughout the UK and internationally, with site assignments ranging from one day to up to six weeks, including occasional night shifts.
  • Practical and hands-on in their approach.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK, with a valid passport for international travel.
