Job Description

Working Pattern: Typically 5 days in the office, with core hours flexible between 8am-6pm.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Designer to join our Girlswear division for 12 months. This role will give you the chance to work across our Nightwear, Underwear & Accessories area, gaining valuable hands-on experience within one of the most dynamic parts of our business.

The Girlswear team design and develop new ranges, managing everything from trend prediction and concept design through to technical development and product selection. At Next, we’re proud to be market leaders in childrenswear, known for our exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and strong sales performance. It’s a fast-paced, highly creative environment where you’ll see how we adapt to different brand DNAs and maintain the highest standards across all our ranges.

You’ll work alongside our talented designers, gaining exposure to multiple categories and building the skills to help you grow and thrive in your future career.

What You’ll Take On

  • Provide support throughout the whole design process from planning new ranges through to product selection.
  • Collate design research, identify key trends, and prepare and update design boards for each season as required.
  • Collaborate with Print and Graphics team to ensure cohesive and creative design development.
  • Assist with the production of design packs where required.
  • Provide administrative support to the Design Team, taking responsibility for tasks such as day to day department requests, colour matching, and archiving fabrics.

  • Have a strong interest in fashion with a particular passion for Girlswear and Womenswear trends, and an eye for what inspires the next big looks.
  • Be aware of the influence of social media trends and be able to draw inspiration from a variety of sources.
  • Be a clear communicator who builds positive relationships across the team, and confident working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Be reliable, proactive, and flexible in your approach, with a genuine enthusiasm to learn and grow within a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Be proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with a willingness to keep developing your technical skills.
  • Experience using AI tools to assist in designing garments would be desirable.
