The Role
As a Graduate Software Developer, you will be at the heart of our development team, playing a crucial role in shaping both the server-side logic and the user experience of the iungo Academy platform. You will work alongside our senior developers, UI/UX designers, and other colleagues to translate creative concepts into seamless digital experiences while ensuring our application is robust, secure, and scalable. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your skills on a variety of projects while contributing to a platform with real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Maintain: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to build server-side applications, APIs, and user-facing features.
- Collaborate & Integrate: Work closely with UI/UX designers to implement designs, and integrate front-end components with server-side logic and APIs.
- Database Management: Design, create, and maintain database schemas to ensure data integrity and performance.
- Optimise: Ensure applications are optimised for performance, security, maximum speed, scalability, and responsiveness across a range of devices and browsers.
- Test & Debug: Write unit and integration tests, troubleshoot server-side issues, debug API endpoints, and identify UI bugs to improve usability and performance.
- Document & Deploy/Ship: Contribute to clear technical documentation for APIs, systems, front-end components, and user-facing features. Assist in managing CI/CD pipelines to ensure the smooth, reliable shipment of code and a seamless user experience to production.
- Learn & Grow: Actively participate in code reviews and stay up-to-date with emerging front-end and back-end technologies and best practices.
Person Specification
You should hold a degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or possess equivalent practical experience (e.g., bootcamp graduate, self-taught with a strong portfolio). You should be a creative, logical problem-solver with a genuine passion for development and a desire to learn.

Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with software architectures, technology stacks, product development methodologies, customer journey research, and User-Centred Design (UCD).
Front-End Skills:
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+), with experience in at least one modern framework (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular).
- Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
Back-End Skills:
- Strong proficiency in at least one server-side programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, or C#).
- Understanding of database principles and experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
General Skills:
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for a collaborative team environment.
- Experience creating and consuming RESTful APIs.
Other desirable skills include TypeScript, front-end build tools, CSS pre-processors, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Docker, authentication concepts, testing frameworks, and a GitHub portfolio.
