Location: Birmingham
Hybrid working: In the office 3-4 days per week

Our team is dedicated to helping solve the environmental challenges we all face, whilst driving sustainable development that protects and enhances the natural environment for future generations.

Our broad portfolio spans the UK and includes complex urban regeneration projects and strategic infrastructure schemes through to international corporate acquisitions. We ensure environmental risks are fully understood and advise how best to mitigate these to meet our clients’ strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ecological surveys including PEAs, habitat and condition assessments, BNG and protected species surveys.
  • Assist with surveys for species including bats, great crested newts, badgers, reptiles, breeding birds, water voles and otters.
  • Undertake desk studies, ecological data searches and field data collection.
  • Assist with ecological reports, technical notes, maps and figures.
  • Support UKHab surveys and habitat condition assessments.
  • Assist with survey planning, site logistics and project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate survey records and project data.
  • Work collaboratively with ecology and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Follow health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
  • Develop technical and professional skills through training and mentoring, with support towards CIEEM membership.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Biology or a related subject.
  • Understanding of UK ecology, biodiversity and ecological survey techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel to sites.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive approach to learning and development.

Desirable:

  • Previous ecological consultancy experience, including placements or internships.
  • Experience with ecological surveys or protected species surveys.
  • Knowledge of UKHab and Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • GIS experience.
  • Eligibility for Graduate or Associate Membership of CIEEM.
