About the Team
The Energy, Transition & Sustainability (ET&S) Business within Amey Consulting are dynamic and forward thinking, dedicated in driving the shift towards a greener future as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Specialising in providing comprehensive solutions for our clients that combine cutting-edge technology with innovative strategies to optimise survey approaches, species and habitat protection, legislative compliance and stakeholder relationships. Our commitment ensures that every project we undertake contributes meaningfully to the global efforts against biodiversity loss and climate change.
This is a great opportunity for a graduate ecologist who is looking to grow their career within an enthusiastic and passionate team of ecologists. The successful candidate will be working alongside colleagues to deliver exciting projects within the UK across a number of sectors, particularly within the energy, transition and sustainability sectors. As graduate ecologist, you will assist ecologists and senior ecologists in the planning and undertaking of ecological surveys for a wide range of protected species and habitats, creation of health and safety documents, and written reports that will be issued to clients to support scheme delivery with legislative compliance.
What you’ll be doing
As a graduate ecologist, your overall objective of this role is to support the effective delivery of small- and medium-scale schemes across rail, highways and complex facilities, developing technical field skills, report writing skills and working as part of regional and national teams.

You will work alongside the team to:
- Plan and undertake ecological walkover surveys to identify ecological constraints associated with a range of schemes.
- Developing innovative solutions to any identified constraints, with support from more senior colleagues.
- Preparing technical reports summarising survey findings, potential impacts and recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and other disciplines to produce robust deliverables.

What we’re looking for

To be considered for the programme, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- A degree (minimum 2:1) in Ecology or another relevant subject
- Strong knowledge of UK protected species
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Team player, self-motivated and fast learner
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
- A Full UK driving License
