At Oxford Instruments Andor, we develop world-leading scientific imaging and spectroscopy solutions that enable groundbreaking discoveries in life sciences, quantum technologies, astronomy, and advanced manufacturing. We are seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Electronic Engineer to join our Hardware Sustaining Engineering team in Belfast and play a key role in supporting and enhancing our innovative product portfolio.
What You Will Do
Are you a recent Electronic Engineering graduate looking to launch your career with a global technology company at the forefront of scientific innovation? We are hiring for a Graduate Electronic Engineer, who will work alongside experienced engineers to investigate technical challenges, improve product performance, and support the ongoing success of our cutting-edge technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the sustaining and enhancement of Andor's electronic hardware products.
- Conducting root cause analysis investigations on customer returns and production issues.
- Identifying and implementing solutions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Supporting engineering changes driven by electronic component obsolescence.
- Collaborating with suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve product conformity.
- Providing technical support to manufacturing teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Contributing to technical documentation, user guides, and engineering records.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes.
- Building strong working relationships across engineering, operations, and quality teams.
- Taking ownership of your personal and professional development.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- A minimum 2:1 BEng/BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to technical investigations.
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive attitude with a focus on quality and delivering results.

Desirable
- Experience using schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadstar.
- Experience working with or fault-finding electronic systems.
- An industrial placement year or relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes.

Working Model
This is a permanent, onsite position based at our Belfast facility. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven manufacturing and engineering environment. Occasional travel to other Oxford Instruments locations and customer sites may be required. Please note on this occasion we are unable to provide sponsorship for visa applicants for this particular post, as such applicants must hold the right to work in the UK to be eligible.
