Job Description
As a Graduate Engineer within Lear's Seating Development team, you'll contribute to the design, development and validation of innovative automotive seating systems used by some of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers.
Through our structured two-year graduate programme, you'll gain hands-on experience across multiple engineering disciplines while working alongside experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists. You'll apply the knowledge gained during your degree to real-world product development projects and help shape the next generation of automotive seating solutions.
This programme is designed to accelerate your development and provide a clear pathway towards a future Project Engineer role within Lear.
What You Will Be Doing
- Complete structured departmental rotations to gain exposure to key areas of Lear's engineering and manufacturing operations.
- Support the design, development and validation of advanced automotive seating systems.
- Work alongside Engineering Project Managers to deliver programmes that meet customer, quality, cost and timing requirements.
- Develop practical experience in engineering design, validation, analysis and product development processes.
- Participate in prototype builds, testing activities and engineering investigations.
- Learn structured problem-solving techniques and support the resolution of engineering issues.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking, product evaluations and attribute assessments.
- Prepare and present technical information to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships across engineering, manufacturing and commercial functions.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For
We're looking for enthusiastic graduates who are passionate about engineering, eager to learn and motivated to develop a long-term career within the automotive industry.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum 2:1 degree in Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline (BEng, BSc or BA).
In addition, you will have either:
- Three A-Levels including:
- Grade B or above in Mathematics
- Grade B or above in a STEM-related subject
OR
- A BTEC Higher National Diploma in Engineering (or related discipline) including Mathematics at Grade B or above.
You must also hold:
- A minimum of five GCSEs including:
- Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Mathematics
- Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English

Desirable Qualifications
- First Class Honours Degree
- Master's qualification in Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline (MEng, MSc or MA)
