Are you an engineering graduate or qualified engineering professional interested in using your technical knowledge to develop and support the next generation of engineers?
The Colleges’ Partnership (TCP) is looking for a Graduate Engineering Tutor to support apprentices completing Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) and Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician (EMT) programmes, alongside other apprenticeship programmes as appropriate. TCP will provide relevant teaching qualifications and training as part of this role.
You’ll combine engineering knowledge with teaching, coaching and assessment, working closely with apprentices and their employers to track progress, overcome barriers to learning and help apprentices prepare successfully for end-point assessment. You don’t need to already hold teaching or assessor qualifications: if appointed without them, you’ll be supported to work towards the appropriate qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering, training and assessing the Level 3 MOET and EMT curricula through blended one-to-one and group learning, both face-to-face and online.
- Conducting regular tripartite progress reviews with apprentices and their employers.
- Planning effective programmes of learning, including appropriate teaching strategies, resources and assessments.
- Coaching, motivating and supporting apprentices, adapting delivery to individual needs and helping to overcome barriers to learning.
- Supporting learners with Functional Skills maths and English to Level 2.
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate apprenticeship records and e-portfolios in line with quality and GDPR requirements.
- Working to agreed achievement and quality standards and contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Keeping your engineering, vocational teaching and apprenticeship knowledge up to date.

What You’ll Bring
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent Level 4+ qualification in electrical, electromechanical, control and instrumentation, maintenance or manufacturing engineering, or another closely related engineering discipline.
- Sound engineering knowledge relevant to the operation, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of plant, equipment or engineering systems. This can have been developed through study, placements, projects, apprenticeships or employment.
- Level 2 Functional Skills/GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and maths, or equivalent.
- An interest in developing and supporting others, with clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to motivate and give constructive feedback.
- Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage your workload and use IT effectively.
- An understanding of safeguarding and equality and diversity.
- A full driving licence, use of a car and willingness to travel and work away from home as required.
- A commitment to achieving appropriate teaching/training and assessor qualifications with support from TCP if you do not already hold them.
