About the Team
The Energy & Environment business within Amey Consulting is a dynamic, forward-thinking, dedicated team who aim to drive the shift towards a greener future. The team specialises in providing comprehensive solutions for our clients that combine cutting-edge technology with innovative strategies to optimise energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, and ensure that projects we’re working on are being done so in an environmentally conscious and compliant manner. Our commitment ensures that every project we undertake as a business contributes meaningfully to national and global efforts against climate change by building in climate resilience, mitigation, and alternative solutions where necessary.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Graduate Environmentalist to join our Scotland team in our Maxim Park Office (Motherwell) or our Perth Office. With office space across Scotland and the wider UK, we welcome applications from Environmental experts across different regions.
The Consulting Environment team at Amey work on a vast array of infrastructure projects across the UK with the Scotland Team predominantly (but not exclusively) focussing on Transport Scotland contracts in the northeast and southwest of Scotland. Our Transport Scotland work centres around providing an increased focus on the creation of sustainable futures for communities nationwide. Together with our engineering colleagues, we provide routine highways, bridges, and structure maintenance projects in an environmentally sustainable manner whilst still achieving client satisfaction.

What you’ll be doing
As a Graduate Environmentalist, you will be working alongside a UK-wide team to ensure the effective undertaking of statutory, informative, and best-practice driven environmental deliverables for our clients. Over the course of your time as a Graduate, you will have the opportunity to work within different specialist environmental disciplines and enhance your technical skills.
You will work alongside the team to:
- Prepare environmental screening and scoping assessments.
- Consult with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
- Assist in environmental site-surveys for disciplines including air quality, noise and vibration, ecology, arboriculture, and the water environment.
- Advise on environmental aspects of projects including (but not limited to) Environmental Impact Assessments, ecological studies, energy use, and environmental hazards.
- Keep up to date with industry best practice, helping to provide guidance on best methods of practice to meet technical and project requirements for our clients.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and other appropriate regulations.

What we’re looking for

To be considered for the programme, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- An Environmental Degree (or a similar, relevant subject) at Grade 2:1 or above
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Team player, self-motivated, and fast learner
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
