Graduate Financial Analyst – Accelerated M&A & Distressed Turnaround

Location: UK (Fully Remote)
Role Level: Entry-Level / Graduate (0–1 Years Experience)
Firm: Tunneys

About Tunneys

Tunneys is a high-intensity, specialized financial advisory boutique operating at the sharp end of Accelerated M&A (AMA) and Distressed Restructuring. We deliver rapid financial analysis, dynamic modelling, and deal architecture for high-stakes mid-market transactions under extreme timeline constraints.

We are not a mass-intake graduate employer, and we do not hire for volume. We hire exceptional raw analytical talent. We operate with a lean team of elite practitioners who value high speed, intellectual rigor, autonomy, and zero corporate bureaucracy.

The Opportunity

Most corporate graduate schemes trap high performers in rigid rotations, repetitive administration, and slow, age-based progression. Tunneys offers a radical alternative: immediate, front-line exposure to high-stakes M&A transactions, complex three-statement financial models, and senior board-level financial execution from Day 1.

For top-tier quantitative graduates seeking steep learning curves, direct mentorship from senior M&A specialists, and an unburdened meritocracy, this is the launchpad.

Candidate Profile & Academic Standards

We maintain an exceptionally high bar for analytical capability. We are looking for individuals who have consistently overachieved academically and possess a genuine passion for numerical precision.

Requirements:

  • Communication: Flawless written and verbal English skills. You must be able to explain complex logical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Academic Record: On track for, or holding, a First-Class Honours (1st) or strong 2:1 degree in a highly quantitative or rigorous scientific discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, quantitative Economics, or related STEM subjects).
  • Mathematical & Logical Agility: Exceptional quantitative reasoning. You must possess the ability to deconstruct complex numerical problems, test hypotheses under pressure, and quickly master financial mechanics.
  • Technical Aptitude: High proficiency with numbers and logical systems. Prior experience with advanced Excel, financial mathematics, data analysis or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA) is highly regarded.
  • Work Ethic & Ownership: Extreme attention to detail, high self-drive, and an uncompromising standard for personal output.
  • Uncompromising Integrity & Directness: You hold absolute ethical standards and total honesty as non-negotiable across every aspect of your work—delivering objective truth through clear, concise, and to-the-point communication without waffle, fluff, or ambiguity.
  • Absolute Discretion & Confidentiality: You treat all client data, deal structures, and firm operations with total secrecy—maintaining absolute discretion both on and off the job. You do not discuss sensitive matters outside of work, nor do you ever publish client names, transaction credentials, or work deliverables on LinkedIn, social media, or any public platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Financial Modelling & Analysis: Learn to construct, stress-test, and audit integrated three-statement financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for live M&A and turnaround targets.
  • Transaction Support: Analyze company financial statements, spot structural discrepancies, and model downside debt scenarios under compressed turnaround timelines.
  • Due Diligence & Reporting: Assist in preparing financial summaries, bidder presentation packs, and clear transaction narratives for CFOs, private equity sponsors, and UK lenders.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop an obsessive eye for detail, ensuring every formula, logic flow, and data set is 100% accurate and mathematically defensible.
