Graduate Geophysical Engineer Shrewsbury

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Salary: GBP26,000:GBP29,000

Type: Permanent Full-time

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Geophysical Engineer to join a specialist geophysical consultancy based in Shrewsbury. The role offers the opportunity to develop practical experience in borehole geophysics, geophysical logging and subsurface investigation, working across water, environmental, mining and geotechnical projects.

The Role

  • Carrying out geophysical logging and borehole surveys on a range of sites.
  • Supporting borehole imaging, CCTV and geophysical investigation projects.
  • Operating and maintaining specialist geophysical equipment.
  • Collecting, processing and interpreting geophysical data.
  • Assisting with site preparation, risk assessments and safe working procedures.
  • Producing technical reports and presenting survey results.
  • Working alongside experienced geophysicists and geologists to develop technical knowledge.
  • Supporting projects across the UK, with opportunities for international travel.
  • Working on projects within the water, environmental, geotechnical, mining and energy sectors.
  • Receiving structured training and development towards more senior technical responsibilities.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Geophysics, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Physics or a related subject.
  • A genuine interest in geophysics and subsurface investigation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and undertaking site-based work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Previous fieldwork experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
