GENERAL SUMMARY
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Apprentice to join our UK HR team based at our Cathcart, Glasgow site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources while gaining valuable practical experience alongside their apprenticeship training.
You will support the HR team across a broad range of activities, including recruitment, employee records, onboarding, learning and development, employee engagement, and general HR administration.
You will receive on-the-job training and support while working towards your BA [Hons] Business Management with HR qualification.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Processing the administration of all sickness absence in accordance with our company policy and procedure for all UK sites and Field based employees in the UK whilst ensuring all such absences are accurately recorded.
- Compiling monthly HR KPI’s for all UK sites and submitting to VP, HR
- Conducting all onboarding for UK sites for all new starts
- Administering all terminations, making sure that they are accurately logged on the HR trackers, issuing the confirmation letter, and working with the relevant line manager to ensure that SF is updated and conducting the relevant exit interview
- Log the appropriate data from the exit interview and report the finding trends
- Maintaining all relevant HR trackers up to date including Employee Relations issues.
- Working with line managers to help manage all ER and absence cases as per guidance from the HR team; for example, assisting in informal and formal stage absence review hearings.
- For all backfill roles, raising the appropriate Position Requisition forms once approval has been obtained from the respective authoriser [Site Lead, COO, VP HR].
- Provide support in informal / formal hearings and investigation; for example, note taking.
- Provide administrative support across the HR function.
- Assist with preparing HR documentation, letters and reports; for example, where applicable, change of terms and conditions, termination letters, maternity / paternity leave confirmation letters.
- Attending ad hoc meetings; for example flexible working request meetings
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives, surveys and HR projects.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies and relevant employment legislation working with Scottish Engineering
- Undertake general administrative duties and ad hoc projects as required

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
About You; We are looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic about starting a career in Human Resources.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities.
- A confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
- Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Detail-oriented and committed to producing accurate work.
- A team player who is willing to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Proactive, curious and willing to ask questions.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, or willing to learn.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- A genuine interest in HR and people management.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Basic IT and digital skills.
- Commitment to completing the relevant apprenticeship qualification.
- 4 Higher Grades at ABBB respectively, one of which must be English
Desirable:
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, volunteering, work experience or a similar environment.
- Previous HR experience is not essential as full training and support will be provided.
