SLR and Our Team
SLR has a busy, well-established Land Survey team which provides Geomatic surveying throughout the country, offering our experience in a wide range of industries for topographical surveying services. The team manages various surveying contracts in specific detail for a range of clients including minerals/waste operators, residential/commercial developers, civil/petrochemical/power engineering firms, and more. The team prides itself on understanding the importance of the client’s requirements for site surveys, setting out, and design, providing consistency with its professional digital capability.
Our Land Survey team sits within a wider Geospatial and Data Solutions team. This team comprises CAD specialists, GIS analysts, Data Scientists, and Developers. Being part of this wider structure gives the opportunity to work with fellow professionals and develop wider skills in the Geospatial field.

We are looking for a talented individual to join the team based at either our Nottingham or Newcastle office. You will be resourceful, creative, and capable of working under your own initiative as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering projects to a wide variety of clients. The work will be partly office-based but will also require regular site work throughout the UK for up to a week at a time. You must hold a full UK driving license and be familiar with Ordnance Survey and other sources of online mapping. You will be either studying for a degree or hold a degree in Surveying/Geomatics.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
