JOB – Junior Design Engineer
LOCATION – Salisbury, Wiltshire (Office based)
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £26,000 - £30,000
My client is an established manufacturer within the play and leisure industry, designing and developing innovative products for customers across the UK and worldwide. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Junior Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis.
About the Role
The Junior Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree qualified in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline
- Previous experience in a design engineering role is preferred, although graduates will also be considered
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software
- Strong technical design and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development
- Experience producing technical drawings, instructions, and Bills of Materials (BoMs)
- Practical hands-on experience with product assembly and prototyping
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
- IT literate with strong documentation skills
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities
The Junior Design Engineer role will involve:
- Supporting the design and development of in-house and customer products for the play and leisure industry
- Updating existing product designs, implementing value engineering improvements, and maintaining CAD models and technical documentation
- Producing bespoke customer design variations based on standard product ranges
- Creating 3D models, 2D technical drawings, Bills of Materials, and product documentation
- Overseeing prototype manufacture, assembly, testing, and design refinement
- Developing testing methods and equipment, recording results, and implementing design improvements where required
- Managing multiple design projects to meet agreed deadlines and business priorities
- Ensuring products comply with relevant European and US industry standards
- Providing technical support and training to production and other internal departments on new products and design updates
- Troubleshooting engineering and production issues to minimise manufacturing delays
- Supporting additional engineering and development projects as required
