SENSONICS LTD is a UK-based engineering company specializing in the protection and monitoring of critical rotating plant across multiple industrial sectors. The company designs and manufactures a wide range of sensors and systems that measure vibration, speed, position, and temperature to support safe and reliable operation. In addition to standard products, SENSONICS provides turnkey installations, on-site vibration monitoring services, and bespoke solutions where industry-standard components are not sufficient. The company supplies high-integrity systems certified to IEC61508 up to SIL-3, serving markets such as power generation, oil and gas, chemical, iron and steel, general process industries, and nuclear facilities. SENSONICS also manufactures earthquake and seismic monitoring systems for highly sensitive sites.
Role Description
This full-time Graduate Mechanical Engineer role is an on-site position based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The role involves supporting the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for sensing and monitoring systems, including the preparation of detailed CAD models and engineering drawings. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with mechanical calculations, material selection, prototype build and testing, and contributing to research and development activities for new and existing products. The Graduate Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to support project planning, documentation, and delivery, while ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The role also involves working closely with manufacturing and service teams to resolve technical issues, improve designs, and support customer-specific and bespoke solutions.

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and technical drawing creation.
- Ability to contribute to Project Management activities, including planning, documentation, and coordination.
- Interest and aptitude in Research and Development (R&D), including testing, data analysis, and product improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical reporting and collaboration.
- Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing environments and an understanding of safety and reliability standards is beneficial.
- Knowledge of sensors, vibration monitoring, or rotating machinery, and exposure to high-integrity or safety-related systems is an advantage.
