Graduate Opportunity in Energy Infrastructure
We are looking for a Graduate to join our Energy business who design, build, and maintain critical national infrastructure on behalf of UK energy transmission and distribution network owners. You will join our growing Gas Infrastructure Engineering team and this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical and project delivery skills while working on a wide range of energy infrastructure projects including natural gas transmission and distribution systems, gas terminals, pressure reduction stations, compressor stations, hydrogen network, Carbon capture infrastructure and biomethane injection schemes.
The successful candidate will receive structured mentoring and hands-on experience across feasibility studies, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and asset modification projects.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Analysis
- Support the development of mechanical engineering designs for gas infrastructure projects.
- Assist in preparation of equipment specifications, datasheets, and engineering calculations.
- Participate in the design of Pipelines and pipework systems, Pressure regulating and metering stations, Compressor stations, Biomethane injection facilities, Above Ground Installations (AGIs), CO2 pipeline.
- Review vendor documentation and technical submissions.
- Assist with material selection and equipment sizing activities.
- Assists in procurement
- Assists in temporary works design

Project Delivery
- Support engineers in the delivery of project milestones.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Contribute to project schedules and deliverable management.
- Produce engineering reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
Site & Construction Support
- Attend construction sites to gain practical understanding of installation activities.
- Assist with site surveys and asset verification.
- Support commissioning and start-up activities.
- Participate in safety observations and lessons learned exercises.
Learning & Development
- Develop understanding of: UK gas transmission and distribution systems, Pressure systems engineering, Mechanical design standards and codes, Process safety principles, Asset integrity management.
- Work toward professional registration (IEng/CEng).

Essential Qualifications And Attributes
In order to be considered for this role, we would like you to have:
- Minimum 2.2 Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills, Experience And Attributes
- Placement year or internship experience.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Exposure to energy, utilities, oil & gas, hydrogen, or renewable gas projects.
You must also be available to start full-time work by December 2026 at the latest and have:
