Description
Our Graduate Modelling Programme offers recent graduates excellent development opportunities through an extensive training program and high-impact projects.
This is a unique international opportunity for a recent university graduate or a professional seeking to build their career in the energy sector and join our Oxford office as part of our Graduate Modelling Programme.
The role will focus on modelling power markets, contributing to our efforts by developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing our modelling methodology, analysing data, formulating recommendations on future trends, and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Aurora’s suite of energy market models
- Work closely with our software and engineering teams to turn Aurora’s models into software that delivers actionable insight for real-world energy decisions
- Collaborate with our research and consulting teams to derive insights from model results
- Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates
If you’re a recent graduate joining the Oxford modelling team, your first year will include:
- Rigorous training in our modelling methodologies and energy markets
- Hands-on contributions to some of the most sophisticated energy market models in the industry
- Direct involvement in live client projects as a technical modelling expert

What We Look For
We look for candidates who demonstrate the following qualities in their applications:
Required attributes:
- Relevant degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or another quantitative field
- A genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and the ability to explain your reasoning clearly
- Experience working with quantitative data through coursework, projects, or internships, including analysing data and drawing insights
- Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in English (C1 level or above)
Desirable attributes:
- Relevant Master’s degree or PhD
- Internship, research, or work experience in a quantitative or technical setting
- An interest in energy markets and how well-designed models improve real-world decisions
- Knowledge of statistical and/or optimization techniques
- Comfortable using AI tools to support coding and analysis, with a critical eye for reviewing AI-generated outputs

The assessment process will include:
- Numerical Assessments
- CV Review
- 1st Round Interviews (virtual with a member of our team)
- Assessment Centre (in person in our Oxford office)
This role is based in the UK and so the successful candidate will need to have, or be able to secure and maintain appropriate right to work in the UK in the role. Under the current applicable immigration rules our Graduate Analyst roles are usually not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Please, specify if any visa or relocation assistance will be required in the application form.
