I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

I have a good sense of humour but I am really, really rubbish at telling jokes. I also struggle to process information but that does not mean I am daft. In fact, my processing has been a source of much entertainment! I am thoughtful and kind but can get anxious. I am great at directing my care so we can muddle through this together. I love gaming, music, films, photography, sport (including motor sport) but especially rugby and like to watch matches from time to time. I like shopping, eating out and going to the pub.
I will need help with all aspects of daily living, personal care, daily physio/stretches, feeding, cleaning, washing, positioningyou name it! I will need to be hoisted for all transfers. I need people who can be discreet, serious when required, but who will have a laugh with me. I do not do well with last minute changes although I am working on that. Having a carer will open up so many more opportunities and freedom for me to try new things, so get your thinking cap on disclaimer: I do not want to try bungee jumping. I would like to go on some adventures, I am always open to suggestions to try something new but struggle with confidence issues.
