About Us

Maritime Strategies International (MSI) Ltd is a dynamic and successful maritime consultancy business, with a global client base. We are now looking for a maritime market analyst to join the expanding team.


About the Role

We are looking for a recent graduate to support the ongoing development of new products and contribute to MSI’s analytical platforms. You will be trained to use MSI’s econometric modelling framework to generate market forecasts, contribute to reports, and participate in a diverse range of consultancy and strategic advisory projects across the maritime, energy, and marine infrastructure sectors.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of analytical competence, and ideally possess knowledge or a proven deep-seated interest in at least one of the following industries:

  • Commodities
  • Shipping
  • Energy
  • Ports
  • Macroeconomics
  • Logistics

Highly motivated, they will be able to meet demanding deadlines. They will be adaptable, learn quickly, and work successfully both in a team and individually.

The focus will be on the dry bulk shipping sector, supporting the existing team. Training will be provided on the job and the individual will have the opportunity to contribute to deliverables from day one. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other teams within the company to gain a well-rounded view of the shipping industry.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop MSI’s proprietary shipping market models, updating and integrating new sources of data and adapting model architecture to changing market conditions
  • Contribute to regular publications, presentations, webinars, and consultancy projects
  • Source, structure and interpret regular numerical and statistical data on trade flows, vessel supply, industry earnings, and asset prices
  • Support business development initiatives, product innovation, and global marketing of MSI services

Experience, Education & Skills:

  • Enthusiasm and interest in the maritime industry
  • Degree or higher, preferably in a numerate subject (e.g. Sciences, Maths, Data Science, Statistics, or Economics)
  • A proven analytical track record (via coursework or final year dissertation) with the ability to communicate methods and results clearly in written reports and presentations
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring integrity and consistency of data and analysis, implementing checking routines and procedures
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel a distinct advantage, with knowledge of PowerBI and Python desirable
