Graduate Private Client Tax Associate - 2027

If you’re curious about how tax shapes important financial decisions, Private Client Tax gives you the chance to build specialist knowledge while working directly with people.

At Ballards, you’ll work with real clients from day one, learning how personal tax affects individuals, families, business owners and trusts. You’ll build the technical and relationship skills to support personal tax compliance, understand Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax, and contribute to advisory work, all while working towards your professional tax qualification.

What you’ll do:

  • Work on live Private Client Tax matters for a varied portfolio of clients, including individuals and trusts.
  • Learn how to prepare personal Self Assessment tax returns and the supporting information and computations behind them.
  • Build your knowledge of areas including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax, with support from experienced colleagues.
  • Work directly with clients, helping to gather information, respond to queries and build professional relationships from the start.
  • Support senior colleagues with compliance and advisory work, developing the technical judgement and client skills needed to become a trusted tax adviser.

You don’t need previous tax experience. We’re looking for graduates who are curious, analytical, comfortable working with people and ready to learn.

You’ll be working towards, or have recently achieved, a minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the confidence to ask questions, work accurately and take ownership of your development.
