Graduate Role in Gas Infrastructure Engineering

We are seeking a Graduate to join our Energy business, which designs, builds, and maintains critical national infrastructure on behalf of UK energy transmission and distribution network owners. You will join our growing Gas Infrastructure Engineering team. This role is ideal for a Chemical Engineering graduate who wishes to build expertise in gas processing, transportation, storage, pressure control, hydrogen, biomethane, carbon capture, and renewable gas facilities.

The successful candidate will support process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle from concept development and feasibility through detailed design, commissioning, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering

  • Support preparation of process designs for gas infrastructure projects.
  • Assist in developing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Heat and Mass Balance calculations, Process narratives, and operating philosophies.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and process simulations.
  • Support sizing of process equipment including; Control valves, Pressure regulators, Relief valves, Heat exchangers, Filters and separators, and Metering systems.

Gas Infrastructure Projects

  • Contribute to projects involving; Natural gas transmission systems, Gas compression facilities, LNG import and storage facilities, Gas receiving terminals, Biomethane upgrading and injection systems, Hydrogen blending, and future energy projects.
  • Support gas quality assessments and compliance evaluations.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Participate in HAZID workshops, HAZOP studies, Design risk assessments, Process safety reviews.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating process hazards.

Project Delivery

  • Support multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation.
  • Interface with vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Assist with commissioning and performance testing activities.

Learning & Development

  • Develop knowledge of Gas processing fundamentals, Flow assurance, Pressure control systems, Process safety engineering, LNG and renewable gas technologies, UK gas network requirements and standards.
  • Work toward professional registration and chartership.

Essential Qualifications And Attributes

In order to be considered for this role, we would like you to have:

  • Minimum 2.2 Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Strong IT, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and report-writing abilities.

Desirable Skills, Experience And Attributes

  • Familiarity with process simulation tools.
  • Industrial placement experience.
  • Interest in energy transition technologies.
  • Knowledge of gas processing systems.

You must also be available to start full-time work by December 2026 at the latest and have:
