Role Description
The Graduate Process Safety Engineer will support senior engineers and consultants in delivering process safety projects for clients in energy, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with hazard identification studies, risk assessments, and safety reports, as well as gathering and analyzing process data and preparing technical documentation. The role involves contributing to design reviews, supporting the development of safety management systems, and helping ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams and clients, attend site visits as required, and participate in continuous learning and professional development. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Manchester.

Qualifications

- Relevant technical foundation, ideally a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Knowledge or academic exposure to process safety principles, including hazard identification, risk assessment methods, and safety management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with confidence in interpreting technical data and using engineering judgment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical reports and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.
- Interest in sustainability, regulatory compliance, and safe operation of industrial processes, with willingness to learn applicable UK and international standards.
- Proficiency in common office and engineering tools (e.g., Microsoft Office; any familiarity with process simulation or risk analysis software is an advantage).
- Motivation to develop a career in consulting, including client-facing work, site visits, and contributing to project delivery under supervision.
