Graduate Business Development Executive – Assessment Day – 25 September 2026
Our client is recruiting graduates for several Business Development Executive positions. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Day on 25 September 2026, which will take place from approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Please ensure that you are available to attend for the full day before submitting your application.
Description
The Business Development Executive position is an entry-level sales role. After learning our client’s sales processes and developing their sales skills, successful candidates will be responsible for progressing and closing smaller sales opportunities within their assigned sector or region.
Key deliverables
- Sales success: The primary purpose of this role is to secure new customers and generate new business in line with an agreed annual target. The successful candidate’s principal objective will be to close sales opportunities following the appropriate approval procedures and internal processes.
- Developing skills: The successful candidate will be expected to continuously develop their sales knowledge, skills and abilities, enabling them to become increasingly effective in the role.
- Effective communication: As this is an entry-level position, guidance and coaching will be provided during the initial period. The successful candidate must communicate effectively with colleagues, their line manager and the wider sales management team to ensure a well-supported and successful approach to sales activities.

Key responsibilities
Product and sales knowledge
- Continuously develop an understanding of the key products and technologies relevant to our client’s services.
- Remain informed about developments within the industry.
- Clearly communicate the business benefits of our client’s products and services to customers and sales colleagues.
- Contribute ideas and expertise to branding and marketing activities when required.
- Support and advise other sales colleagues to assist with their development and the successful closure of opportunities.
Account planning
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and margin targets from new customers.
- Create and maintain documented account development plans.
- Collaborate with Marketing and other internal departments to proactively identify and target prospective customers.
- Develop tailored sales approaches for specific customer accounts.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of sales opportunities.
- Provide accurate forecasts by effectively managing and progressing opportunities.
- Keep internal systems and customer records accurate and up to date.
Customer relationships and satisfaction
- Regularly contact and build effective relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Promote and sell additional services to or through customers.
- Maintain an understanding of each customer’s objectives and key stakeholders.
- Set clear customer expectations throughout the sales process, delivery stage and contractual relationship.
- Coordinate internal teams to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Escalate issues on behalf of customers when required.

Bid and tender management
- Collaborate closely with Presales, Delivery, Support and other bid-related teams to create, sell and deliver new business opportunities appropriate to the level of the role.
- Coordinate virtual bid teams to deliver high-quality bids and tenders ahead of deadlines, escalating matters to sales management when required.
- Fully qualify prospective customer accounts to ensure that likely questions, requirements and concerns are addressed constructively throughout the sales process.
Candidate profile
Education and qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree
Experience
- Retail or other customer-facing experience is expected.
- Experience working within a team to deliver a project or task is expected.
- A demonstrable interest in, and experience of, selling a product, service or concept is expected.
- Experience using a CRM or similar system is desirable.
- Experience within the IT or telecommunications industry is desirable.
Required skills
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
- A professional manner and the confidence to communicate effectively with customers
- Strong numerical ability
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify inaccuracies or inconsistencies
- A tenacious and determined approach, with a willingness to make the effort required to achieve targets
