Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate looking to start your career in a unique organisation where you can learn, contribute and make a real impact from day one?

The Programme

Harwich Haven Authority is launching its first Graduate Programme, offering four graduates the opportunity to join us on a two-year programme designed to build experience, confidence and capability across our business and wider industry. The programme includes four graduate areas:

  • Strategic Projects – CEO Office
  • Sustainability and Engagement
  • People & Culture
  • Technology and Innovation

Over two years, you will gain practical experience in your chosen graduate area while also taking part in rotations across different parts of the organisation. These rotations are designed to help you understand how Harwich Haven Authority operates, the role we play in the maritime industry, and how different teams work together to keep the Haven safe, effective and forward-looking.

You will begin with a bespoke induction, including time with senior leaders, before starting in your chosen graduate area. Throughout the programme, you will spend time with teams across the Authority, which may include Harbour Engineering, Finance, Pilot Launch Services, Vessel Traffic Services, Pilots, People & Culture, Sustainability and Engagement, Technology and Innovation, and the CEO Office. This may include the opportunity to work alongside our operational areas, including some night shifts for a short period, where appropriate.

You will have a structured development plan, regular reviews with your line manager, access to formal training, and support from an Executive Sponsor. Formal development will focus on areas such as communication, commercial awareness, sustainability, leadership, data and technology, and presentation skills. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to an improvement or innovation project, and to present your work as the programme progresses.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
