An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Surveyor to join a growing consultancy in Cambridge.

This role offers the chance to work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse portfolio of construction and capital investment projects. Ideal for an ambitious graduate looking to further develop their career in Quantity Surveying, this position provides structured support, hands-on project experience, and a clear pathway towards professional chartership.

I'm delighted to be working with a growing and highly regarded consultancy based in Cambridge that delivers professional cost management and project consultancy services across a diverse range of sectors. Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Surveyor to join an experienced team and develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Your new role

As a Graduate Surveyor, you will support the successful delivery of capital investment and construction projects from initial concept through to completion and handover. Working closely with senior surveyors and project leaders, you will gain exposure to the full project life cycle, including design development, procurement, contract administration, cost reporting, and final account settlement. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of cost management and quantity surveying commissions.
  • Assisting with estimating, cost planning, procurement, and tender processes.
  • Producing cost reports and project documentation.
  • Supporting contract administration activities under industry-standard forms of contract.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Contributing to project reviews, analysis, and reporting exercises.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Attending industry networking and professional development events.
  • Working collaboratively within a client-focused team environment.

What you'll need to succeed

Applications are welcomed from recent graduates as well as candidates who have gained some industry experience through placements, internships, or graduate-level surveying positions. To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or a related discipline.
  • A desire to work towards professional chartership with RICS, CIOB, or an equivalent professional body.
  • A strong understanding of quantity surveying and cost management principles.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, cost reporting, and contract administration.
  • A basic understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Excellent communication, numeracy, and report-writing skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and relationship management.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • A genuine passion for delivering high-quality professional consultancy services.
